In May of 2011, the Home Depot Foundation contributed $2,500 through a gift card usable at its stores. This gift card will help with ongoing ACT activities.

In March of 2011, AHA! received its operation expenses grant from the Austin Housing Finance Corporation.

On December 13, 2010, AHA! received a $5,000 ADAPT of Texas Grant to support JT’s House upkeep and homes purchased under the Affordable Communities in Texas Initiative.

On December 3, 2010, AHA! received a $27,260 CHDO predevelopment forgivable loan for the Gaston Place schematic design phase.

On November 4, 2010, AHA! received a $5,000 Amerigroup Foundation Grant to modify four homes for accessibility. The donation will support JT’s House upkeep and assist with the development and rehab of homes purchased under the Affordable Communities in Texas Initiative.

On July 15, 2010, AHA! obtained JT’s House. The property was once owned by James “JT” Templeton, a board member of AHA! and a longtime disability rights advocate. He passed away in January of this year, leaving his home to our organization to be used to provide housing for low-income families that have members with disabilities.

On December 14, 2009, AHA! signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC) to purchase $300,000 of foreclosed housing stock throughout Austin and surrounding counties. These properties will be acquired by TSAHC and placed into a land bank. These properties will be rehabbed, purchased, and maintained by AHA! to create long-term affordable rental housing.

On October 26, 2009, AHA! entered into a long term lease option with the Housing Authority of the City of Austin to develop up to 20 units of affordable, accessible, and integrated housing for low-income people with disabilities and their supporters. AHA! is currently pursuing predevelopment funds to explore site feasibility.

In September of 2009, AHA! received a CHDO Operating Expenses Grant (HOME CHDO Set Aside) from the Austin Housing Finance Corporation. The $25,000 grant helped cover operating expenses for FY09-10.

On July 16, 2009, AHA! was awarded a $10,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas 2009 Partnership Grant Program. Frost Bank served as a member-partner for this grant.

On June 26, 2009, Amerigroup Charitable Foundation gave AHA! a $10,000 grant to fund general activities.

On September 10, 2008, AHA! received a CHDO Operating Expenses Grant (HOME CHDO Set Aside) from the Austin Housing Finance Corporation. The $25,000 grant helped cover operating expenses for FY08-09.

On June 6, 2008, ADAPT of Texas awarded AHA! a grant in the amount of $3,700 to cover development expenses.

Since June of 2008, AHA! has maintained the property known as Carol’s House, located at 1805 Heatherglen Lane. The property is currently serving an extremely low-income family that has a member with a disability.

In June of 2008, AHA! received City of Austin administered CHDO HOME Funds for acquisition and rehab of an affordable housing development in the amount of $40,810.

In June of 2008, AHA! received $100,000 in City of Austin General Obligation Bond Proceeds for acquisition and rehab of an affordable housing development.

We look forward to establishing a partnership with the Easter Seals Home of Your Own Coalition to increase opportunities for low-income people with disabilities in Austin, Texas. We will begin matching perspective homebuyers from the HOYO Program with affordable, accessible, and integrated housing owned by AHA!. First time homebuyers will purchase housing that has been modified for people with disabilities by AHA!.
